 CASA June PD well received

We were privileged to have Narelle MacKenzie share with us her wealth of knowledge on Body Centered Psychotherapy just before she moved to Melbourne to live. Narelle is the Director and a Senior Trainer of the Australian Radix Training Centre which offers a three year national training program in Radix Body Centered Psychotherapy. She was instrumental in having the Australian Radix Association accepted as a full member of PACFA.

Narelle conducted a very interactive workshop which encouraged a high level of participation by attendees. Through stimulating exercises she raised our awareness of what was happening for us personally as we engaged in extended eye contact and interaction with each other. She highlighted for us the importance of paying attention to what is happening for our clients in their bodies and how this is linked to their emotional expression. Narelle also demonstrated a client interview at the end of her presentation which illustrated beautifully the techniques that she was presenting.

Our Next PD Event - Saturday, 18th September

Unmasking the Many Faces of Shame

Due to popular demand following Dr Pamela Brear's presentation at the May Conference, she is conducting a PD workshop entitled "Unmasking the Many Faces of Shame", assisted by co-presenters Noela Maletz and Jennifer Stanley.

Mark this date in your diary now, as it promises to be a highly engaging and informative session.

 Spreading the Word

We have been very pleased during recent months to be able to talk about CASA to a number of Training Providers, to students in Adelaide Uni’s post graduate counselling programs and to students in the Australian Institute of Family Counselling program.  Promoting CASA is always such a pleasure.  We can be proud indeed of our Association.

 Helpers Needed for PD Events

With our ever increasing numbers attending PD events, we need more helpers assisting us with setting up afternoon tea and cleaning up afterwards. If you would like to offer your services in this regard for future events, please contact Judy Headley, the PD convener - casa.profdev@casa.asn.au. Your help would be much appreciated. Many hands make light work!

 PACFA May/June eNews Online

The latest newsletter from PACFA is now available on the CASA website. The CEO's report includes updated information on the status of ARCAP and there is also an interesting article summarising the delegation that recently visited Canberra to present a petition to Government, seeking more support for the Mental Health professions. Go to www.casa.asn.au and follow the PACFA links.

bullet The Future of Counselling - Dr Colin Benjamin
uline

A big crowd attended our May "Future of Counselling" forum with Dr Colin Benjamin, PACFA CEO. Colin updated us about the status of ARCAP, progress in gaining recognition of the profession and access to private health fund rebates for Clinical members. At the end of the evening many commented that they had a new appreciation of how much was being done to promote the interests of counsellors, and in many instances, just how difficult lobbying the government was.
